What are the criteria for calculating the new toll in Belgium?
The tariff is determined based on four parameters:
- distance travelled;
- Type of road;
- Total permissible weight;
- Environmental class.
The deposit for the On Board Unit is 135 Euro.
Viapass conducts controls in cooperation with the administration of the three regions of Belgium. In the absence of an active on-board device in the car, large monetary fines are imposed.
Fixed controls
On highways, control devices above the road will be used to check the presence of active on-board devices on trucks.
flexible controls
Flexible checks can be carried out anytime and anywhere on all Belgian roads.
Mobile controls
Mobile teams can perform controls on Belgian roads anywhere, stopping trucks, and issue fines if toll regulations are not followed.
If a failure to comply with the requirements for payment of tolls by trucks in one of the three regions is established, the amount of the fine is, as a rule, 1000 euros or more.
